Saturday August 7, Noon-5:00 PM, Freedom Road Church, 1080 Sunset Ave, School supplies and clothing. All schools, children MUST be present with parents
Saturday August 14, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 34 W. Pleasant St. Springfield in the Family Life Center. Use the Mulberry St entrance. Free school supplies and backpacks. All City Schools
Saturday August 21, 10:00 AM-the day until they are gone. This is an all day event at Restored Life Church at 1117 Innisfallen Ave. where they will be giving school supplies. All City Schools
Inside Out, 501 S. Wittenberg, will be doing school supplies the 2nd or 3rd week of August. As of 7/21/2010 they have not set an exact date or time. All Schools

Champaign County
Saturday August 21, 9:00am-1:00pm, Messiah Lutheran Church, 1013 E. Lawn St. School supplies and clothing for Champaign county, First Come First Serve Basis

Salvation Army (322-3434) helping with elec, gas, and rent- taking phone calls Mondays at 9:00 AM
Catholic Charities (325-8715) helping with rent and utilities, take phone calls on Mondays at 10:00 AM
St. Vincent De Paul (322-0838) can help with rent, utilities, and other various emergency financial assistance. Taking phone calls Tuesday or Friday at 10:00 am.
HEAP (325-8366) Helping With Electric Only, Must be over 60 or have a medical condition with physician documentation
PRC through DJFS (327-1700) can help with various emergency financial assistance, you must be working and have children to qualify.
Champaign County Emergency Assistance
Salvation Army (484-4244) No Assistance Available at this time.
Catholic Charities (652-2125) Rent Only, Take Phone Calls T-F
Tri-County CAC (652-2246) helping with gas and elec. limited rent
PRC through DJFS (484-1500) can help with various emergency financial assistance, you must be working and have children to qualify.

There Are NO Air Conditioners

Due to the increase in calls our office has been recieving, we thought it would be helpful to clear up some false information being given throughout the counties.  HEAP in Clark County is NOT giving out air conditioners this year.  Other local HEAP officers are such as Montgomery, but NOT Clark.  Tri-County in Champaign County had some air conditioners but they are mostly gone.

2010 Summer Opportunities For Kids

Every year, Information & Referral/2-1-1 produces a Summer Opportunities for Kids in Clark County.  This list gives parents and providers different resources for children to keep busy and have fun while out of school.  New this year, we have added a Summer Opportunities for Kids in Champaign County. Consumer Credit Counseling- Serves Clark and Champaign Counties, Offers money management workshops, bankruptcy counseling and education, financial/credit counseling, mortgage foreclosure, budgeting classes, homeowner education and counseling, and debt management.
