United Way's 2-1-1 Program is in our final process of updating. If you are an agency and you recieve an e-mail PLEASE take the 5 minutes to make sure we have accurate information! Thanks in advance!

The Springfield Overflow Shelter is currently not operating.
Tax Preparation Assistance is posted below.

We have recieved several calls pertaining to The Wherehouse in Urbana. Here are the details as we know them: They are currently operating out of a garage on church property at 115 W. Church Street in Urbana. They are giving FOOD only, as they don't have the space for larger items. They are still open the 3rd full week of the month, from 9-noon. They are looking for larger space, so if you know of availability, please let them know!

2011 Income Tax Preparation Assistance Sites

Clark County:
Catholic Charities, 701 E. Columbia Street. Call 325-8715 starting January 17 to make an appointment. Holly is in charge of the program and income level is up to $60,000.
United Senior Services VITA Site, 101 S. Fountain Ave., Springfield. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday from 10:00 am-2:00 pm, walk-in basis and the service starts Feb.2.
Villa Park Senior Services Satellite, 1350 Vester Ave. Friday from 1:00-4:00 pm by appointment only. To schedule, call 399-3411 on T, W, Thru from 12:30-3:30pm and ask for Jane. The service starts Feb. 3 and ends on April 13.
New Carlisle Public Library, 111 E. Lake Ave, New Carlisle, every Thursday from 1:00-5:00 pm. The service starts Feb. 9 and ends April 12 and is on a walk-in basis.
Clark County Public Library, Enon Branch, 209 E. Main St. Enon. Mondays starting Feb 6-April 11 from Noon-5:00 pm. Walk-in basis.
St. John's Lutheran Church, 27, N. Wittenberg. The service starts February 2 and runs every Tuesday through April 12. This is a walk-in basis from 10:00am-2:00pm.

Champaign County:
The following agencies are offering free tax preparation through the Ohio Benefit Bank for those with an adjusted gross income of $60,000 or less:
Stepping Stones Outreach Ministries- Call 652-1303 for an appointment. Open Mon-Fri 9-4. Some Saturday appointments available
Catholic Charities- Open Tuesday-Friday 8:30-4:00, call for an appointment, 652-2125
Tri-County CAC- Special Tax Session on Saturday, February 4th. Appointments available at other times, Call 652-2246 Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30.
St. Paris Public Library, 127 E. Main Street, St. Paris. Monday’s from 9:30-2:30 starting February 6. Call 663-4349 to schedule an appointment.
Urbana Champaign Senior Center, 701 S. Walnut Rd. Urbana. Starting Feb 1 the service will be offered on Wednesday 10:00am-4:00pm and Friday 9:00 am-3:00 pm. Must call 653-6088 to schedule an appointment.

Clark County Emergency Assistance
Salvation Army (322-3434) can help with gas/electric- taking phone calls Mondays at 9:00 am.
Catholic Charities (325-8715) no emergency assistance available at this time
St. Vincent De Paul (322-0838) can help with rent, utilities, and other various emergency financial assistance. Taking phone calls Tuesday or Friday at 10:00 am.
HEAP (325-8366) Now taking phone calls for Winter Heap (heating utilities)
PRC through DJFS (327-1700) can help with various emergency financial assistance, you must have an income and children to qualify.
Champaign County Emergency Assistance
Salvation Army (484-4244) currently helping with prescriptions and utilities
Catholic Charities (652-2125) can help with limited emergency assistance, taking phone calls the first thursday and friday of the month only
Tri-County CAC (652-2246) Now taking phone calls for Winter HEAP, limited rent help
PRC through DJFS (484-1500) can help with various emergency financial assistance, you must be working and have children to qualify.

Springfield Men's Homeless Shelter Changes Name, Address

The former Craig House of Interfaith Hospitality is now known as The Hartley House. The new address is 440 West High Street. They also have a new phone number 521-1071. The move allows for more capacity and administrative offices on site.

EARLY DETECTION IS YOUR BEST PROTECTION!!
There is a new program that is designed for Women who live in Clark and Champaign Counties, between the ages of 40-70. You must meet income guidelines, be uninsured or underinsured, or have a Medicaid spend-down requirement. Special circumstances will be considered. 3 Easy Steps to get a mammogram:
Step One: Call Community Mercy MedAssist at 390-5513 or 653-5231; They will determine your eligibility and make your appointment at Rocking Horse Community Health Center.
Step Two: Get an Order for a Mammogram; Arrive at Rocking Horse Center at your assigned appointment time. Clinics are the third Thursday of the month from 4-6 PM. Receive a simple screening and breast exam. Walk out with your order for your mammogram.
Step Three: Schedule your mammogram at the Imaging Center of your Choice; Present your written order at the time of your appointment at either Crystal Clear Imaging, Springfield Regional Imaging Center or Mercy Memorial Hospital.

Consumer Credit Counseling- Serves Clark and Champaign Counties, Offers money management workshops, bankruptcy counseling and education, financial/credit counseling, mortgage foreclosure, budgeting classes, homeowner education and counseling, and debt management.
